This
non-profit organization, having guided, promoted
and enabled the complete social and community development
of children, adolescents, youth and families since
1994, is expanding their strategies to work in conjunction
with other organizations that have similar conceptions
regarding the integration of human needs.
Centro Conviven
understands that working with other organizations
expands the
possibility of
coming up with answers to the problems that are
faced by the world's younger generations, especially
those living in poverty. Because of this, Conviven
has succeeded in establishing cooperative connections
and extending their work in art, recreation, education,
and culture into the countryside in far away zones
like those of the District of Isidro Casanova,
Rio Cuarto – Cordoba and Volta Redonda in
Brazil.
While Centro
Conviven has developed their activities in the
settlement
populations of the Autonomous
City of Buenos Aires, starting in February, this
work will be expanded to include workshops for
radio production, film and digital photography,
macramé, support with school work, and an
English program, among other things, that will
be open in a center similar to that of Isidro Casanova,
in the Municipality of La Matanza.
The cooperative work between institutions has
also permitted the realization of another interactive
step in the search of bettering the world since
the beginning: the Brazilian organization Amigos
na Cultura (Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro) creates
documentary films, made by children, and based
on the recuperation of African roots. In this framework,
Conviven will contribute knowledge gained from
progress made at the youth work camp, as well as
photography, thus strengthening the work teams
through specific training. Concretely, Conviven
will install their Digital Photography Workshop,
Language Program, and Radio Production, receiving,
in exchange, training and instruction on documentary
filmmaking in the city of Buenos Aires.

reseña sobre
Conviven

In the last few years, el Centro CONVIVEN
has created a strong volunteer program, made up
of both Argentinians and foreigners, that make
the support of their volunteer actions possible,
creating in return a space to exchange experiences
and grow professionally.
The proposal of cooperative networks is one in which
social, educational, community, preventative, and
health coordination intersect through various activities
such as:
• Learning,
production and diffusion of the work done
with adolescents and youth, and the arts. |
• Photography,
video, circus, dance, combined arts: sculpture,
ceramics, drawing, murals, graffiti, various
styles of music: folkloric tango, jazz,
blues, rock, and opera, etc. |
CONVIVEN has made a commitment to the families,
children, and youth of the popular neighborhood
in which it is located. The creation and support
of recreational spaces, job formation, as well
as educational, cultural, and community activities,
merits a great vocation for serving others,
without losing sight of the myriad identities
and diversity from which it was created.
Based on these principals, CONVIVEN considers cooperative
work in institutional networks to be a valid tool
with which to achieve the promotion of diverse social
actors. The weave of solidarity is one of the most
valuable forms of prevention, one from which chances
will be taken alongside those with whom achievements
are shared.
.

CONVIVEN starts
with the protection of the whole man, from caring
for the human person, in the conviction that those
who pass through spaces that promote their individual
development better their quality of life and that
of the society in which they live.
CONVIVEN,
grants directionality in its actions, starting with
the criteria of education for life, strongly betting
on the richness of humanity, and enabling one's potential
to be displayed and to gain prominence.
CONVIVEN
bases its work on the reaffirmation of the cultural
identity of the people it serves, respect for diversity,
group membership, and with the hope that all of this
comes together in a climate of joy.
CONVIVEN is
validated, after having completed extensive work,
for its actions and the social ties it has created.
Proof of that is the work with programs of a diverse
nature which:

• Enable
the interaction of institutions, encouraging
investigative, cooperative and interdisciplinary
work. |
• Coordinate
a diversity of actors and social objectives
in a project that joins the fields of art
and prevention. |
• Develop
Creativity in children as a mode of Education
for Life. |

To
strengthen the integration of children and youth
through the construction of spaces for artistic
expression.
To
regain recreational time as a space to connect
with others and to grow personally.
To utilize recreational
and artistic spaces for supportive participation.
To exchange training experiences
between institutional teams.
To develop spaces so that
youth can gain prominent skills in concert, audition and performance formats
within distinct artistic disciplines.
To share the work that
Conviven has developed with adolescents and youth, and to spread the interaction
of the various arts of photography, video, circus, dance, combined arts: sculpture,
ceramics, drawing, murals, graffiti, and various musical styles: folkloric
tango, jazz, blues, rock and opera.
| We
propose Networking: Constructing community,
pedagogical organizations that are needed
to promote the arts in the lives of youth. |

1.
Our assumed commitment is the creation of spaces
for recreation, job formation, and educational, cultural
and community activities.
2.
Networking, the promotion of diverse social actors,
and the weave of solidarity, are the most valuable
forms of prevention and we believe our commitment
is found in the diverse expression of ART, AN INALIENABLE
MEANS OF EXPRESSION BY CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND
YOUTH.
3.
Art: An inalienable expression of children and youth.
Recognizing talents and giving
prominence to young musicians is one of the principal
works of Centro “Conviven.” In pursuit
of this, it carries out numerous activities of a
musical nature. It wants that music, dance, circus,
photography, and video, in addition to being a beautiful
form of expression, is also a transformational, social
instrument in the context of marginal neighborhoods,
not only in the city of Buenos Aires, but within
the entire country. This is how the idea arose to
execute this program.
We strongly
bet on the richness of humanity, and we work
to display the potential that develops prominence,
facilitating conduct that affirms one's cultural
identity, the respect for diversity, and group membership.
